LNG Pipeline dug up for under cover remedial work

We have have had reports that sections of the LNG pipeline running from Milford Haven to Cilfrew are being dug up for remedial work on the welded joints.  One such section is near Glais where the road has been closed for the work to be done.

This report will be of no surprise to those who opposed the pipeline on grounds of safety, stating at the time of construction that it was jerry built.

Independent experts have expressed concern because the working pressure of the pipeline will eventually be 1,363 lbs per square inch (psi).   This can be compared with 35psi in a car tyre and 100psi with a pressure washer.  Some experts have said that the pipeline with this pressure (the highest of any LNG pipeline in the world) is a time bomb waiting to go off.   Already there have been some majors disasters in the USA.
