Cllr Rob James reports

Proposed Mynydd Marchywel Wind Farm

Bryncoch South councillor, Rob James (left), calls on local residents to write to him regarding the proposed Mynydd Marchywel Wind Farm.

RES, the renewable energy developers considering the project, will shortly be launching a consultation for the Mynydd Marchywell Wind Farm, which is proposed on land between the villages of Crynant and Rhos. The developers will look to use the busy Penywern Road, situated in the Bryncoch South ward to transport the materials needed to create the proposed five turbine farm.

Having completed a scoping opinion on the proposed site, this week RES wrote to local councillors inviting them to attended a preview of the public exhibition in June, with the opportunity to quiz members of the project team.

Cllr. James states, 'The amount of clean energy that could be produced, has the potential to supply the energy to 6,500 homes, yet their proposed route of transportation of materials is worrying. I urge all local residents to write to me directly with their thoughts on the proposed wind farm ahead of the meeting in June.'

Ed. Note  In addition to the invitation to write to him, we feel sure that Cllr James will have verbal opinions from those he represents and will tackle this issue with the same intensity as he did with his election campaign which brought him good results.
On behalf of our readers, we have asked Cllr James to get the answers to the 18 questions we have put to him.
