Cold Calling - Latest News

 Latest News on Cold Calling

When asked for clarification on political cold callers, an official source replied as follows:-

"Yes, political candidates, catalogue companies who just post it and call back in a few days to see if there are orders and charity collections licensed by home office etc are exempt. Its meant to catch those who try and sell you something there and then on your doorstep."

We believe that residents may add their own notice, like the one we found on Google (right) to clarify who they don't want to knock their door.   Another issue, not mentioned so far, is junk leaflets / junk mail.  Many residents would be happy with no junk being put through their letter box.

We welcome readers thoughts on our letter page regarding cold callers and also junk mail.   You can depend on us following up this issue.

BREAKING NEWS..... The matter of 'Cold Calling' is of great concern to those who run Neighbourhood Watch Schemes. We understand that much is going on behind the scenes to clarify the situation and in an attempt to make residents feel secure in their homes - particularly the elderly who live alone.
