Shocked readers

 Unfair hire charge?

Greed or malice?

Readers are shocked over the fact that unpaid community councillers are being charged for holding their non-political advice surgeries at Blaenhonddan Community Centres - see READERS LETTERS.

We cannot help wondering if the councillors who authorised this charge (said to be around £11 per session - including VAT) are the very ones who do not hold surgeries themselves?

This state of affairs reflects badly on the Blaenhoddan Council and gives residents the impression that they are putting greed before need.    The question therefore arises: 'are they a caring council?'

Readers should compare this state of affairs with the neighbouring Dyffyn Clydach Community Council, who have frozen their slice of the community tax (the precept) for the forth year in a row, and make no charge for councillor surgeries.
