Uncomfortable Chair?
At the PACT meeting at Bryncoch on 9th Janaury, Matthew Conde, prospective Labour candidate for Bryncoch South, queried the appointment of Cllr.Tony Wyn-Jones as chairman of the meeting stating that, in his opinion, it gave the councillor an unfair political advantage. Cllr.Wyn-Jones said that no political matters were to be discussed.
Speaking on behalf of the police authority, Caire Rogers stated that it was always difficult getting a PACT chairman and often it had to be done by a PSCO. Similar situations were said to take place elsewhere and was valid up to the acceptance of nominations for forthcomg elections.
The matter of Cllr. Wyn-Jone chairing the meeting was put to the meeting and there were no objections.
A resident stated that PACT meetings are the only place where one can see all councillors together, apart from council meetings where the public are not allowed to speak.
