Empire future

Empire future to be looked at?

We can reveal that Rob James, the prospective Labour council candidate for Bryncoch South, is concerned about the future of the Neath Empire entertainment complex - a building that provided entertainment in Neath from 1926 to 2009.

Mr James states he has been reading news reports on this website for a few weeks now and after the festive holidays says he will bring the issue up with the relevant authorities.

It seems that may be a case to argue that the location of this venue, not to mention it's historical importance, warrants further consultation on the use of the freehold. Mr James said he will look at the current stage of the planning application, to enquire if enough consideration has been given when weighing up the needs of those living in Neath Port Talbot, with the financial difficulties all councils in Wales are experiencing.

OUR COMMENT:   The editorial team is delighted that someone is taking an interest in this case at last.   Some visionary thought at this stage could benefit future  generations.
One business person suggested that a series of charity shops on the ground floor could raise the capital for a building that would eventally belong to the residents of Neath.
