On Friday 2nd December it was noticed that the banks between Cwmclydach pond and the river had disappeared, leaving the water levels of the pond 2 metres lower than normal as the water is now running in to the river. A temporary barrier has been placed there but another storm could mean that further banks could disappear also.
Bryncoch Environment group have worked very hard to block up the banks and given up their weekend along with volunteers’ from our ward, my thanks go to them all.
This is devastating to our community and its environment as the pond attracts various habitat including Toads, Mutes, and all sorts of birds, and is such a beauty spot that many walkers use from far and wide, we must try and save it or it could be lost to the next generation.
