Waste of money by name change

Proof that changing name of Community Centre is costing money

The change of name is starting to cause confusion because some residents use the Waunceirch Community Hall as a polling station - two venues with similar names!!!!  This surely is not good enough?

The decision by Labour community councillors to change the name of the Owain Glyndwr Community Centre has cost NPT CBC 36p for each household using the venue as a polling station.

A letter was sent by post to each household about the name change after the approval by Labour community councillors following Cllr. Doreen Jones' proposal to change the name to the Waunceirch Community Centre.   Cllr. Jones claimed it was not a political issue but simply a standardisation of names relating to the areas in which the centres are situated.    This was disputed by Plaid Cymru councillors who stated the change was a waste of money. Below is a copy of the letter sent to each household in the area.

To avoid confusion residents are still using the old name and hirers are simply calling it:

Owain Glyndwr Waunceirch Community Centre - this seems to satisfy all concerned, except, perhaps, those who have no pride in Welsh heritage.

Note.   The name change was proposed after the original sign (pictured) was vandalised.   The police have been asked to investigate.
Anyone with information should telephone the police on Tel.No: 101
