Dyffryn Council sets an example

Dyffryn Clyach Community Shows Up Others

A look back on what has been done for their residents

Community Festive Spirit
The Christmas  Carol Concert was held at Dyffryn Clydach Community Centre which was a huge success and a packed hall. Thanks to the Salvation Army and the caterers for putting on mince pies, cakes and drinks for the people who attended. Also a childrens' Christmas party was put on for every child in the community who wished to attend.

Gifts from Father Christmas
Father Christmas attended and a gift was provided for every child who came along. There was also a buffet provided. Once again there was a packed hall.

Free Christmas Dinner
A free Christmas dinner was provided for the older residents of Dyffryn Clydach where free entertainment was also provided and a good time was had by all, again at a packed event.

Award - Citizen of the year
Mr. Brian Heale of Hill Rd., Neath Abbey was awarded a citizen of the year certificate for his commitment to helping others in our community and he was honoured.

Footpaths Improved
So far this financial year 104 tons of scalpings and stone dust has been laid on bridleways and footpaths as part of the rolling programme of maintaining and upgrading all parts of our community.

Free Skips to dispose rubbish
The free skips provided in the community of Dyffryn Clydach have proved to be a huge success and is much appreciated by the local residents. The skips are courtesy of Keep Wales Tidy.

Precept - no extra cost to residents
The Dyffryn Clydach precept has been held at the same level once again with no rise for the fourth year running.
As you can see this community council is working well on behalf of the people whilst an adjoining council appears to be far less considerate to residents.   The facts speak for themselves.

A word about Council House Stock Transfers
Regarding the issue of the Council House Stock Transfer The FOI Commissioner has ruled against Neath Port Talbot CBC that they were wrong to withold the addresses of Council Tenants from the 'No' campaigners and has given NPT CBC 35 days from the date of the decision notice to rectify the problem or threatened them with court action should they fail to do this. NPT CBC have until 25th February to rectify the fact that the broke 5 clauses of the FOI Act in their refusal to provide these addresses. Councillors are the Defend Council Housing body at NPT are in the process of writing to the Welsh Assembly, Deputy Housing Minister Jocelyn Davies to ask for a reballot in the interests of democracy.
