What's in a name?

Conflict In Change Of Name For Community Centre

Blaenhonddan Community Councillors have not yet resolved the written notice of motion put forward by Cllr. Doreen Jones to change the name of the Owain Glyndwr Community Centre to a name that reflects its location and to conform with the Council's other  community centres.  Cllr. Jones said there was no political motive.

Cllr. Janice Dudley said that there was no point in changing a name that had long been accepted by the community.  Another councillor stated that any change of name would cause problems with users of the Centre who are using the present name on stationery.

The matter will be discussed at the next Council meeting when other councillors can add their views.

From our previous report, it will be seen that the change of name is been considered after unknown adult vandals had pulled down the existing sign, pictured above before the attack.
