The Black Path

 The Black Path

Do you know anything about this Path?

" The ‘black path’ is currently not shown on the definitive map and statement and is therefore not a legally recognised public right of way
The path was constructed in approx 1896 and was for the school children of the 2 communities to use to get the new school built at the time. In an effort to get the path recognised as a public right of way an application was under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 supported by evidence forms from people who had used the path in excess of 20 years. It was thought that the application may fail because it appears that the local council (now the Blaenhoddan Community Council – I believe) have over the years been paying a lease to Network Rail so that people could cross railway land. The Godmanchester Case (2005), has however cast some doubt on whether or not the lease will have any effect on the application."

I have e-mailed the Council to find out what they know.

So far I have found that the house owner at the bottom of the Path has closed it off.

The path runs from the top of Ffynon Dawel across the railway line up toaround Rosser Terrace.

I am hoping that maybe you may know something about this.
