Shopping Area

Adjacent to the eye sore housing development at Waunceirch is the shopping complex, which includes the Tesco Express store.

The trees in the background do not exist.   Instead, eye sore houses tower above on what is classified as a ridge top scheme.

Across the main road is the low level Waunceirch Junior Primary School.

At peak times the main road is subject to congestion with many parents using the shops car park, which is shown above.

There are notices in the car park stating that parking time is limited to 20 minutes with a penalty of £75 if exceeded.

In 2011 there was a change of classification for one of the empty units and planning permission was submitted for a 64 seater restaurant with an alcohol licence.

There is now concern about the car parking space with the possibility of the main road being used as an over-flow car park.

All this adds congestion to an area that NPT CBC wanted to limit traffic just over ten years ago, to the extent that they placed two notices (left) on the Neath to Skewen A48 main road. Not only that, thousands of pounds were spent on a road barrier to prevent traffic passing the school.  The notices were removed before the development started.
