Goodbrand & Ross - first meet of 2022. The first run out of the season (24th April) in the usual rubbish weather. 5 degrees C, fog on the top of the Lecht however a goodly number of hardy souls made the effort to have lunch at Goodbrand and Ross, on the east side of the Lecht between Corgarff and Strathdon. |

Two Ferrys tour Unfortunately no-one else pitched up to take advantage of a wonderful days motorcycling on the west coast. The route was down the Great Glen to An Gearasdan then refuelled before heading to Mallaig. Had lunch in the lee of the harbour wall before boarding the ferry for Armadale, Skye. A brisk jaunt up to the Broadford Junction then the wee road over to the Glenelg Ferry. The tide was ripping through and the delay of some 10 minutes by the skipper meant the transit wasn't too onerous, however I still held the front brake on and gripped the handrail tightly. After disembarking I stopped up the bend for a coffee and cake. Suitably refreshed it was over the Mam Rattan pass to Bridge of Sheil then home via Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit and Culnakirk road. Fabulous frankly, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. |

Skink Run The July 17th run to Cullen from Inverness was interrupted by a coffee stop at the Findhorn Foundation where we met up with Allan Wilson and his pals who had camped over the weekend. After refreshments we were off via Lossie and Fochabers to Cullen where we all met up once more and enjoyed Cullen Skink in the Rockpool cafe in Cullen Square. It was enthused about so is being repeated in 2023. |
Grampian Transport Museum The plan was a camp over at Huntly Campsite and Ross Fraser and I enjoyed a couple of beers and a curry before the next morning meeting up with Chris and Neil at Deans of Huntly for bacon rolls and coffee. A new route to me was led by Chris over the Suie where, at the viewpoint fab views of Tap o Noth were afforded. A nice run down to GMT where the car park was mobbed with motorcycles. We then had a grand tour around the museum and a lunch before we all made our ways homeward. Again the weather was dry and relatively warm. So it should have been; in August. (21st August 2022) |

NW Scotland run. September's run, on the 18th was not quite so kind in term of weather. It was largely due and positively wet on leaving the r.v. point of the V8 cafe in Inverness. By the time we stopped at the Pier at Lairg it had become brighter and warmer. Thos folks who had come through some pretty awful rain from the east had a chance to warm up. Then it was off along Loch Shin to Laford Junction with the promise of bright sun shine just evading us as we reached the west coast. Kylesku Hotel was the scene for lunch although I took a packed lunch and caught up with Malcolm Talbot who was on his Laverda Jota. We headed south through Elfin and Ullapool where more fuel was taken on and headed back in to the rain once more. Those who had come through from Aberdeenshire had a better journey as it brightened up the further east they went. A grand run out nevertheless less. I'm always amazed at the effort made by some of the group. Bravo! |

Twisty's run The Twisty run, on the 16th October, had been advertised as one not for the faint hearted! The road from Tomatin up the River Findhorn for a couple of miles leads to a false sense of security. On turning up to traverse Glen Kyllachy via the Garble road it soon become naggly and pretty in equal doses. In the woods there was much debris and leaf litter so holding your line was important. At Farr we went past Tordarroch House and over the rebuilt bridge to Dunlichity and further on to the cross roads north of Loch Duntelchaig. Hanging a left took us past Loch Ceo Glad and the decision point to hang a right along the road to the "bends"! The road is initially fine, typical single track but deteriorates the closer you get to the top of the bends. Lots of birch leaf litter and before one knew it we popped out on to the main Inverness Foyers road. Left and left took us along Glen Lia to Upper Foyers and then up further on the B852 to white bridge where we had a rather nice lunch. As time was pressing most elected to head home, Phil headed off to refuel at Kilchumein before going south back to Dundee. Andy B and Mark Ellis headed off on the Spada and Nouvo Falcone respectively whilst Ross and I went round the south of Loch Ness, parting company at Drumnadrochit. Ross head back to Old Deer and I to the Black Isle. Another fine run in surprising fine weather, local to the route. A video of the run is available here: https://youtu.be/N7ilUATfbmo
