All in a good cause!
The year is 1851 and the Great Exhibition has just closed. The latest fashion, the social conscience is spreading through the rich social elite.
Lady Atherton, a dedicated follower of fashion, has been invited to address a group of her peers, to tell them about her latest trip to Manchester. Her aim is to show how they can aid her cause and thus relieve their burden of guilt over their wealth.
This talk lays bare some of the more unsavory aspects of Victorian life and shows the wide gulf between rich and poor.
