1960 ALF 800 Pump Scale: 1:34 -- Skokie FD, Il, USA -- Subsequent research has shown that this model is incorrect. Skokie FD only ever had a War Surplus ALF 710-PJO bought in 1948, and although many details of the model are correct the cab is clearly a 900 not a 700.

1965 AEC/Merryweather TL Scale: 1:50 -- London Fire Brigade, UK -- Merryweather used this AEC diesel driven chassis to mount their "all British" 100’ hydraulic turntable ladder (TL). The appliance had a self contained, diesel driven, Merryweather single-stage pump delivering 300-600gpm. When fully closed the ladder can be used as a crane with a maximum load of 2000 lb at 60 degrees. The cab could seat six firefighters and the vehicle weighed 9.5 tons and had a 15’ long and 7’ 6” wheelbase. In 1965 the London County Council was disbanded and replaced by the Greater London Council which took over responsibility of the LFB. The only immediate effect was a slight change in the livery resulting in a new crest for the new Authority. -- Matchbox K15 conversion

1966 Dodge L-700/ALF Pump Scale: 1:24 -- City of Troy, California, USA -- Dodge Forward Control vehicles were in many ways the best of their time. The strange and fairly rare L-Series medium-duty Trucks were based on the 1964 A-100 mini-van. The one benefit these trucks had was excellent manoeuvrability; their wheelbase was a mega short 89 inches allowing for U-turns on streets as narrow as 28ft. For major repairs, the cab tilted up for access to either a Perkins Diesel (optional on L-600) or the 194hp 361-3 V-8 for the L-Series rigs. An unusual and rare configuration of the Dodge L-700 and American LaFrance pumper coachwork. It is not know whether this was built by ALF themselves or a local mating of a existing ALF appliance and a new chassis. -- Scratch built using a Linberg and an AMT kit

1968 Leyland ET Scale: 1:50 -- St. Helens County Borough Fire Service, UK -- Lancaster College of Technology in Coventry carried out experiments to determine the best visible colours for emergency vehicles in the 1960s. White came out best but the commissioning Brigade (Coventry FB) decided to use Lime Green because they felt the maintenance would be less. However, St. Helen's decided to use white and had the local Technical College design the livery. This ET sports that livery. -- Corgi 21901
