1923 Mack AC2 Scale: 1:24 -- San Diago Fire Dept, California, USA -- Introduced in 1916 the AC had a 74hp, 4 cylinder engine with a 3 speed gearbox and duel chain drive. In 1919 pneumatic tyres were offered and in 1925 a 90hp engine was available. The AC2 was a combination pumping engine and hose car, fitted with a Northern rotary pump of 500gpm or 600gpm capacities. In the 1920s a Hale rotary pump was also available. The AC was the heavy duty companion to the AB range and had the distinctive “Bulldog” looks. It was said to have been christened the :Bulldog” during the 1914-18 war by British troops because of it’s looks and tenacity. The Mack Fire Apparatus range came in 14 variations, from the AC1 to the AC11 (there was a AC1a, a 3a and a 5a) -- Scratch Built using parts from a Monogram kit

South Bend's first organised fire protection commenced operations one year later on January 29, 1853, twelve years before the incorporation of the city.
