Dennis Machir, Hope Paton Singles winner in the final receives the trophy from Jim Donald M&DL President on behalf of the Hope Paton team.

The last time the Hope Paton BC won this trophy was in year 2000. On this showing in this year's final against Hillside BC it is difficult  to understand why it has taken so long to win it again. The semi final was a close affair, beating Montrose BC by one shot ,but this result in the final against Hillside BC certainly showed the difference in the two teams on the night.

Hope Paton ran out comfortable winners winning all four matches to gain a 8 - 0 victory.

 Dennis Machir got the event off to great start winning the Singles match comfortably by twelve shots over Jim Donald. The Pairs was a closer affair until the last few ends with Margaret Murray and Stuart Hale finally overcoming their opponents with a strong finish to win by nine shots.

The triples too was a close affair early on in the match but again like the other matches the Hope Paton team of Isobel Mather, Ethel Norrie, and skip Arthur Moir accelerated to the finishing post with a thirteen shot advantage.

This only left the Rink of Hazel Coull, David Scott, Donald Grant and skip Ron Blacklaws who somehow managed to overturn what seemed a Hillside victory by taking more shots in the last few ends to claim a clean sweep of all the matches.

Overall it was a great performance by the Hope Paton. Well done to all those who played their part in this good team victory.
