Margaret Murray upset this year's Gents Green Champion finalists by beating both of them in the semi-final and final to take the Ian Sherriff''s Shield this year. Following her recent run of defeats in the ladies finals she managed to defeat both Willie Pirie and Dennis Machir in one of the club's mixed competitions.

In the Champion of Champions event played at the Inch Bowling Club, our champion this year, Willie Pirie defeated Jim Stott (Inch BC) and will play Jim Donald (Hillside BC) in the final on Friday night at 6.00pm at the Inch BC.

Unfortunately, our ladies Champion, Margaret MacCallum was defeated in the Friendship Cup.

On Wednesday, 2nd September,  the final of the British Legion's Rosebowl was played at the Hope Paton green between Maureen Stott (Hillside BC) and Margaret  Maiden (Montrose BC).

This was a very good final watched by a decent crowd. Maureen raced into a 10 - 0 lead before Margaret got a score on the board. Once she controlled the length of the jack, Margaret fought her way back into the match but Maureen always kept her nose in front. Just when it looked like Margaret could even things, Maureen scored another shot to take a 20 - 17 lead and ran out the worthy winner with a single to clinch the trophy. Final score 21 - 17.

Next week sees the last of the season's finals being played.

Monday night John Paton plays Stuart Hale in the final of Thomson Three Bowl.

Thursday sees two finals with the Ted Leven ( John Paton/Eddie Main v Liz and Willie Pirie) and the Vets Mixed Pairs.

This Saturday we have a friendly match away to Parkview BC in Brechin. This is followed with the final friendly of the season with a trip to Laurencekirk next Wednesday.
