After the rainclouds came the sunshine, and a great Ladies' Green Championship Final.

This year's  final between Margaret MacCallum and Margaret Murray was well worth waiting  for, after an untimely delay caused by  torrential rain at two o'clock.

Margaret MacCallum won the first jack and raced into a 5 - 0 lead, winning the first four ends to storm ahead,  Was she influenced by the thunder clouds overhead,

Margaret Murray won a single at the sixth end, but more importantly, she gained control of the jack and played longer ends to her advantage, winning the next five ends to take a twelve shots to five lead.

The next four ends saw Margaret MacCallum claw her way back into the match with a 2,1,2,1 repost.

With two more singles shots Margaret Murray kept the lead, fourteen shots to twelve, but a three at the eighteenth end saw Margaret MacCallum regain the lead for the first time since the fifth end.

It was becoming too close to call, but things looked good for Margaret Murray as she took a two and a three to regain the lead 19 - 16.

Just when it looked all over, another player with vast experence drew on her reserves, and Margaret MacCallum reversed the two and three at the last two ends to snatch the trophy from Margaret Murray's grasp, winning 21 - 19.

A great final... pity that someone had to lose!
