Dennis Machir won this year's Jim Donald Singles against David Garvie which was held at the Hope Paton Green on Tuesday night.

What a great final we had at the Hopey on Tuesday 11th of August. The weather was great, the green looked good, the only thing missing was the crowd.

Both players were up for this, and in the early stages it looked like David Garvie was going to seal his authority on this final when he took an early lead. Dennis Machir had other ideas however, and fought his way back into the match.

The spectators began to grow in numbers and so did Dennis's confidence as he began to stretch his lead with some excellent bowling.

As Dennis continued to reach the jack, David could not find his accuracy with his running bowls, which he was more and more being forced to play, and eventually Dennis ran out the victor 21 -17.
