Sunday 26th April: Semi Final 1  Montrose V Hillside 10.30am

Sunday 26th April: Semi Final 2  Mellville V Hope Paton or Inch 2.30pm

FINAL: Sunday 26th April 6.30pm

On Friday evening In an extremely close preliminary round tie against the Inch Bowling Club,  the Hopey team earned the right to play this year's second semi-final match on Sunday against the Melville Bowling Club.

With the Inch winning the Pairs by eleven shots and the Hopey winning the Triples and singles with a total of nineteen shots it was all down to the final game between the rinks to decide the outcome. The game was evenly balanced, then the Hopey team began to fall behind as darkness approached. Fortunately they managed to hang on, and the eventual outcome was a three shot victory for Hope Paton.

This was enough to see them through to the semi-final on Sunday afternoon, when they met the Melville Bowling Club in another tense affair.

After two quick games, the singles and the triples, the Melville were four points to nil and twenty one shots up. It looked like a bowl too far for the Hopey team. They had to win the other two games and have more than twenty one shots. As both games were fairly close, the weather intervened, wind and rain, and the Hopey never looked back. The two Melville rinks lost their weight and began to lose shots rapidly, with the Hope Paton side eventually passing the twenty two shot margin they needed for victory and a place in this year's final.
