Residents are to be consulted on whether to adopt new powers that would affect dog owners throughout the Daventry District.

If adopted, the new powers could require dog owners to:

• Clean up when a dog has fouled;
• Keep dogs on a lead in some areas, such as a car park or sports pitches;
• Keep dogs out of some areas, such as children’s play areas;
• Put a dog on a lead when directed by a Council officer;
• Specify a maximum number of dogs that an owner may take onto land at any one time.

The six-week consultation period will run from January 17 until the middle of March for people to register their comments.
