Here is a sword cane that I recetly created
The Turks head knott (saturated in white glue to make it solid) hides the seam between the handle and the scabbard. The whole thing is painted black and varnished.

I fitted an epee blade to a wooden cane handle and fashioned the scabbard out of oak. I started with two long square pieces of stock and plunge cut the cavity in each of the halves with my table saw. After joining them back together I hand planed the scabbard to shape with my Baley number 6 (that's it below on the far left) and got rid of the edges with a wood scraper. I finished up with a little hand sanding just for good measure.
