Cleansing Crystals

All crystals that you work with, carry, are given, buy or find should be cleansed thoroughly. They may have absorbed 'nasties' from the other people who have handled them, which will then be passed on to you unless cleansed.

When a crystal works with a human or animal it absorbs the negative energies that are causing dis-ease in that being, if they are not cleansed they will hold those negative energies and will pass them on to you.

To cleanse a crystal, you first need to check it's hardness (see crystal properties page) to see if it is soluble or not. Those crystals who are 4 and under on the mohs scale of hardness should not be cleansed under running water as they may be soluble.

Methods of cleansing crystals:

• Cold running water

• Incence/Smudge smoke

• Amethyst

• Breath

• Visualisation

• Burying in soil

• Salt - not recommended for regular use or for crystals which have a hardness of under 5 on the mohs scale of hardness

As with choosing crystals, intent is also very important with cleansing crystals. You must make sure to hold a clear intent to cleanse the crystal for the cleansing to be effective.
