There were returns to the 1st team squad for Barry Dodsworth who started on the right and Gaz Hughes who claimed a place on the bench following some sound performances in the 2nd X1. The Knaresborough side were unrecogniseable from the one that had smashes Bramham for 7 in the cup earlier in the season. A huge squad had travelled for this evening fixture and they started the game in confident fashion and looked a very assured outfit. The opening 20 minutes had Bramham chasing shadows and only excellent work from the again outstanding Lloyd in the Bramham goal kept the visitors at bay. Dodsworth limped of after just 8 minutes and was replaced with Farthing, who has been a real "fined" for Bramham this season, but on the night he looked a little jaded and the long season is taking its toll on him. Bramham were happy to turn around all square and sent on Alker to replace Farthing at the start of the second half. The former skipper injected energy and spirit into the midfield and effectively chnaged the course of this match as Bramham at last got the upperhand in midfield. Their dominance was rewarded with a penalty on 55 minutes but the visiting keper pulled of a fine save. Bramham continued to dominate and following a corner on the right Hick headed home from 6 yards out. As Knaresbrough looked for the equaliser the game stretched out and Wright got the better of the offside trap only to be upended by the keper as he closed in on goal. Wright took the ensuing penalty and despite his earlier miss he strode up to the ball and gently chipped it over the keeper who had long since dived, and lay on the ground in time to watch the ball go over his head! Wright was not finished yet and following a mazey run from the left he skipped round 3 defenders before tapping home from 3 yards out to secure the points for Bramham and send them top of the league for the first time this season.
