Sub Firth, Hughes. Bramham travelled to Yeadon to face title contenders Albert. The game had been in doubt all morning and it was easy to see why, with parts of the field resembling a quagmire. It took referee Harwood a full 20 minutes before declaring the ground safe if not fit for play. Albert had the edge in possesion in the opening stages, often first to the ball and adapting well to the conditions whereas Bramham were tentative and uncertain. It was no surprise when they took the lead on 8 minutes and went two ahead on the 20 minute mark. Bramham were all at sea and failed to compete at the required level, but a free kick from Wright dipped wickedly and the home keeper fumbled allowing, Hick to score from close range. The comeback was shortlived as Albert made light of the conditions and with defenders failing to challenge they reinstated their 2 goal lead just before the interval. Bramham were quick out of the blocks in the second half and for 15 minutes pinned Albert back but they were unable to breakthrough. Having weathered the storm the homeside put the game beyond Bramham with a 4th and to complete the rout they scored twice more in the closing stages. Albert looked every inch title challengers, their committment and determination was a level above Bramhams all afternoon and they were deserved winners. Brett Hudson was a shining beacon in the Bramham defence, the only light on a dark afternoom for Bramham, who must now regroup as they prepare for another tough fixture against Addingham, also heavily fancied for promotion. Despite picking the ball from the net on far too many occassions Gary Lloyd made some fine saves in the Bramham goal and continues to look top notch. Man of the Match On this occassion the club has made the exception of selecting Brett Hudson as man of the match from both the team managers and committee view Add your comment Please note that whenever you submit something which may be publicly shown on a website you should take care not to make any statements which could be considered defamatory to any person or organisation. | ![]() |
