There is little positive to write about a poor Bramham display against a Ripon 3rd string that ocassionally looked capable of a shock win and took the visitors right to the wire.

Played on a bumpy pitch and in a strong wind, Bramham were out of sorts all over the field and struggled to string two passes together.

Ripon for their part consisted of a team of tryers who kept going all afternoon. Much of the play was confined to midfield with shots on target rare especially in the first half.

The second half followed a similar pattern, but with Ripon having more possesion and at times stretching the Bramham defence. Were it not for Lloyd in goal Bramham may well have conceeded in the latter stages, but he looked an assured and commanding figure.

Inevitably the game drifted into extra time, but neither side looked seriously like scoring from open play and it was a relief to everyone when the referee blew for full time.

Firth Carrier and Jacklyn all safely converted their spot kicks, whilst two Ripon efforts were sent wide. It was perhaps fitting that Gareth Lloyd should have the final say, twice saving a penalty to give Bramham a semi final berth.
