This match saw the clash of the champions of the 1st and 2nd division from last season. Albert were out for revenge for their cup exit at Feeely lane earlier in the year and boasted an impressive record in the start to this season having won 5 of ther 6 matches and sitting 5 points clear of Bramham.

There was liitle between the two sides for much of the afternoon, with Bramham having the edge in quality and possesion whereas Albert, were well organised and competed for every tackle.

Chances were few and far between with Gareth Hughes creating the best opening with a superb ball into the penalty area for Jason Wright, but the quality of the ball took even the prolific Wright by suprise and the opportunity was gone.

The visitors opened the scoring on 35 minutes when not for the first time this season the Bramham defence failed to clear a through ball and let in a soft goal when the ball should have been nestling in the next field rather than the Bramham net.

From that point on it was always going to be an uphill battle for Bramham and they nearly went 2 down in the opening minute of the second half with good work from Smith and Tasker scrambling the ball away.

Minutes later and Carrier had a great opportunity to bring Bramham level but his effort skimmed the post when it was easier to score

As the game entered the last 10 minutes it looked as though Bramham's unbeaten home league record which stretches back 10 months to the defeat by Bedale was in serious danger.

Bramham sent on Farthing and Adam Tasker and with 8 minutes to go a beautifully weighted and pinpointed free kick from Wright found Hicks unmarked 8 yards out and his header into the corner of the net earnt Bramham a precious point.

There was however a late scare and only an outstanding save from Tasker kept the visitors out.
