Kirkby Malzeard 2 Bramham 5

by Unknown - 18:58 on 12 February 2011

Jack Crawley and Nathan Christopher  formed Bramhams strike force as they took to the field, but no one could have imagined that neither of them would be on the field after 20 minutes.

The luckless Crawley suffered a knee injury on 7 minutes and Christopher followed shortly after as Kirkby had the bulk of the opening possession kicking down hill.

What matters is goals and by that time Bramham had already rattled in three with their rapid counter attacks, Christopher, Claxton Ruddock ( on for Crawley) and Stapleton all getting on the scoresheet.

Barry Jones stepping up from the second team slotted into  the left back position as Bramham taking advantage of their lead strung 5 across the middle for the remainder of the half and defended well under heavy pressure as Malzeard fought to get a foothold in the game. They did so on the 40 minute mark when Bramham were asleep at a free kick and conceeded a soft goal to a well struck shot.

In the second half Bramham looked to have sealed the points whe John Crawley scored immediately after the restart with a fine strike at the near post.

Kirkby threw men forward as Bramham protected their lead and looked to close the game out, but the homeside grabbed a second and the dismissal of Brook left Bramham to see out the last 20 minutes with 10 men.

The points were finally secured when Evans collected a ball inside the area and slotted home from close range.

Bramham wins on this ground are few and far between so the victory was welcome and reversed the 4-1 defeat at Freely Lane earlier in the season.

Fine performances all round esepcially Stapleton and John Crawley with Jones  having a fine debut for the senior team
