Bramham 2 Carlton Athletic 4 (AET)

by Unknown - 18:15 on 06 November 2010

Bramham paid the price for failing to capitalise on the stream of chances that came their way in the first half, a half in which the match should have been sewn up and the home side out of sight.

In reality they took just two of those chances, a flying header from Joe Collins and a sweetly taken Chris Pert free kick.

In the second half it was all one way traffic as Carlton poured forward and made Bramham pay for their misses. The viistors rolled up their sleeves and put a stop to Bramhams passing and free flowing play, took control and were level at 90 minutes

They continued their dominance in Extra Time and ran out 4-2 winners despite an heroic display by Leach in the Bramham goal. Down to 10 men the keeper kept Carlton at bay until the 115th minute, when the visitors finally clinched the tie.

Learnings for Bramham= Must do better in front of goal

The saddest news of the day was recieved after the final whistle in the passing away of the great football stalwart Basil Walls, and we have a short tribute to Basil on our news page. Basil, you will be sadly missed.
