Thirsk 2 Bramham 2

by Unknown - 07:56 on 14 February 2010

A good playing surface and a reshuffle at the back were the noticeable changes before this match kicked off, and both factors proved significant as Bramham bounced bck from last weeks home defeat.

Simon Wright joined Jonny Walton at the heart of the defence and looked solid all afternoon and it was no suprise when the visitors took the lead on 28 minutes. Inevitably it was League leading goalscorer Jason Wright on the mark again as he fired in from the edge of the box after good work down the right flank.

Thirsk had good possession but rarely broke through the Bramham ranks, but they drew level on 40 minutes when the Bramham rearguard were caught cold from a well flighted free kick clinically finished with a fine header.

In the second half the game flowed from end to end with half chances for both teams to get in front and it was Thirsk who got the break as Bramham scrambled to clear their lines the ball struck the luckless Stapleton lying on the floor in the penalty area and a spot kick was duly converted.

Bramham continued to press forward and once again is was Jason Wright who waltzed around two defenders and crashed the ball home from the most acute of angles.

In the closing stages Pert and Stapleton were a growing influence on the game as Bramham pushed for a winner and it was the outstanding Walton who all but clinched the victory. with a sharp turn and volley in the box superbly tipped over by the Thirsk keeper.

In the end a draw was a fair result, from two well matched teams
