Kirkby Malzeard 2 Bramham 1

by Unknown - 18:13 on 07 November 2009

Walton Elliott Kitchen Stapleton Malkinson  and Davis were all absent, so it was  a depleted Bramham team that made the trek north for this county cup tie.

Farthing Easby and Maxted stepped up from the 2nd X1 and all played their part in a well drilled performance albeit ending on the wrong end of the result.

In reality there was little between the two sides all afternoon despite Malzeard taking the lead from a hotly disputed offside decision.

The two teams cancelled each other out with defences generally on top and chances a rare commodity.

Both keepers were in fine form when called upon and the game looked destined for a 1 0 win for the homeside when the otherwise immaculate Zealand slipped when trying to clear and Malzeard  briefly took a 2 0 advantage.

Jason Wright was once again on the scoresheet with the Bramham response slammming home a free kick from 25 yeards.

Bramham had the better of the closing stages but Malzeard kept them  out to secure their passage into the next round.

Despite the dissapointment of losing, this was a superb effort from the visitors, further evidence of the growing strength in depth of the Bramham squad.

In addition to Zealand there were notable performances from Simon Wright, Andy Maxted and throughout the team
