Aberford Albion 4 Bramham 1

by Unknown - 19:38 on 17 October 2009

With Joe Collins and John Walton both absent it was a makeshift back line that took to the field in this Barkston Ash Cup tie.

Bramham had the better of the opening minutes when they could have grabbed an early lead but were rocked back on their heels after 8 minutes when sloppy work at the back let in Aberford  for a soft goal.

This was just the incentive the home side needed and it was no suprise when 5 minutes later Bramham went two down as they looked all at sea

The confidence so obvious in Bramhams play in recent weeks drained away and they looked a mere shadow of the team that has started the season in fine form.

They fell further behind before the interval but should themselves have been on the scoresheet.

The second half was a more evenly contested affair with chances at either end but each side mustered a goal a piece in what had been a low key afffair in the context of previous meetings between the two sides. Jason Wright grabing his customary strike.

Whilst not the strength of Aberford teams of recent seasons they are still a capable side. Bramham were a long way below their best and perhaps saw the game as a  frustrating distraction from their league agenda.

A bright spot for Bramham was the retun of Barry Dodsworth and the form of Duffield in goal.

Aberford were deserved winners on the day
