Bramham 5 Brittannia Sports 3 (AET)

by Unknown - 20:29 on 03 October 2009

Bramham bounced back from the dissapointment of last week with a solid performance against a strong well equipped Brittannia Sports outfit.

This game was never going to be a classic with a strong wind throughout but both sides rolled up their sleeves in a highly competetive encounter between two well matched teams.

The lively Stapleton had an outstanding afternoon and opened the scoring on 10 minutes through sheer persistents as he scrambled the ball home despite being under heavy challenge.

Brittannia were lev elon the half hour mark when a wicked deflection flew passed Elliott in the Bramham goal. The home side lost the influencial Kitchen on the stroke of half time and then went behind following a free kick after the restart

Stapleton had them back on terms just after the hour and then he was upended in the area 10 minutes later and the referee pointed to the spot.

This was a pressure kick but there are few better in these circumstances than Jason Wright and he made absolutely no  mistake to put the homeside ahead.

Just when it looked as though Bramham had weathered a late onslaught they succumbed in the dying seconds as Brittannia grabbed a late, late equaliser to take the tie into extra time.

For many teams this type of dissapointment would have been a bitter pill to swallow, but there is a growing resilience about Bramham this season, and they were the better side throughout the extra period and sealed their victory with goals from Simon Wright and Chri Pert.

A performance to be proud of. Well done lads, a great response after last week!!
