Thirsk 4 Bramham 1

by Rich Woodcock - 19:32 on 07 October 2006

Team:

M Tasker, A Linyard, C Maltby, D Ewen, P Smith, M Hick, P Alker, B Dodsworth, G Hughes, R Dowson, M Dodsworth. Subs D Easby J Jones, C Cannon.

Bramham slumped to their second succesive league defeat ironically both at Thirsk, but this time it was Thirsk Reserves who smashed 4 passed Bramham to add to the 3 which Dalton Athletic inflicted just 3 weeks previous.

The first 20 minutes saw Bramham in total control but chances were squandered and time and again the ball flashed over the bar, when more composure would surely have tested the home keeper.

The inevitable happened as Thirsk broke away, caught the Bramham defence asleep and snatched the lead after  20 minutes. From that point on Bramham were second best for much of the afternoon.

Matty Dodsworth saw  a shot from close range rebound into the kepers hands off the angle of bar and post and then 10 minutes after the interval Thirsk went further ahead following a fine volley from 8 yards which gave keper Tasker no chance.

Hughes got one back for Bramham with a dipping shot from 18 yards, but Thirsk added two more before the end, one an unstoppable free kick from 30 yards and Bramham trooped off a well beaten side.

Bramham's slide down the league is a cause for concern and the absence of Talisman Jason Wright was there for all to see. Bramham surrendered posession far too easily and were woefully lacking in quality in front of goal.

There are 22 games and 66 points still to play for and Bramham need to recapture the commitment of last season if they are to mount a serious title challenge.

Bramham undoubtedly possess one of the most talented squads in the division, but they have to earn the right to play which only comes through sheer effort and a desire to win which was sadly missing today!

We still await details of the referees report on this match in respect of any cautions which may have occurred and therefore cannot comment on matters which have not formally been brought to the clubs attention and which may or may not be in the hands of the league

I do agree that it is time that Ryan learnt a bit of discipline, I also wish that people would put their name to their comments. Chances are the their is a reason for the anononimity!!
