The welcome return of Colin Maltby allowed Manager Wright to make some changes at the heart of the Bramham defence, which had been leaking goals in recent matches. Tosh Maltby regained his place at left back with Danny Ewen moving to the heart of the defence and Andy Linyard slotting in at right back.

In the opening encounters Boroughbridge pressed strongly but were easily contained by the Bramham back four well marshalled by Mark Tasker who was a commanding figure all afternoon.

Increasingly Bramham took took a greater share of the possession and started to carve out some useful openings with Hughes showing pace and quality and Dowson running tirelessly, pressing the home defenders and always looking dangerous.

Adam Tasker and Paul Smith were solid and controlled and along with Matty Dodsworth and Mark Hick, took control of the centre of the field as the half came to a close. Bramham were unlucky not to be ahead at the break with two good shouts for penalties being turned aside.

It was no suprise to see the visitors take the lead just after the break, when Hughes broke away for a fine goal. Great work on the flank from Dowson then provided the opportunity for Smith to calmly put Bramham two up with a low shot into the corner of the net.

With the cushion of a two goal lead, Bramham were able to introduce Wright for his first game of the season and within 15 minutes the prolific striker had bagged himself a hat trick and Hughes had added a second of his own.

Bramham played some fine open football reminiscent of the style which carried them to the First Division Championship last year, the return of some big guns having immediate impact, and with Alker, Appleyard and Barry Dodsworth all still absentees, competition for places is hotting up.
