Bramham 1 Thirsk 1

by Niall Matheson - 19:36 on 26 August 2006

Team

M Tasker, A Tasker,Bowden,Ewen,Booker,Linyard,Hick, Hulme, Cannon,Dowson,Hughes,subs Firth,Farthing, Jacklyn.

With 8 first team regulars unavailable Bramham opened their season positively and could have taken an early lead as Thirsk seemed cautious on their visit to last seasons champions.

After 20 minutes however they grasped the game and recognised that they had before them the opportunity to take full advantage of the depleted Bramham ranks and they dominated much of the play.

There were however opportunities for both teams to run away with the points but some fine keeping and poor finishing, meant that the first goal did not arrive until 69 minutes when a low cross was paried by Tasker for the oncoming strikers to tap in for a lead to the visitors.

Firth and Farthing replaced Boooker and Cannon and they combined well on 82 minutes allowing Farthing to fire home a low 22 yard drive and secure  a share of the points for Bramham.

For much of the afternoon Thirsk had been the better side, but Bramham kept going and in the end were happy to settle for a point.
