Bird in Hand v Bramham

by Niall Matheson - 22:13 on 25 August 2006

Team:

Tasker, B Dodsworth, Prendagast, Jacklyn, A Maltby, M Dodsworth, Hick, Alker, Farthing, Dowson, Cannon; sub Linyard ( 70 mins)

Bramham took this game by the scruff of the kneck from the first whistle and Chris Cannon fired them ahead after just 2 minutes with the home defence in disarray.

The visitors always looked likely to add to their lead with Dowson always a handful, whilst at the back, Bramham looked assured and easily dealt with the occasional raid.

The second half followed a similar pattern and although Bird had longer spells of posession, they only rarely threatened and Tasker making his Bramham debut was in fine form all evening behind a back four well marshalled by Jacklyn and Prendagast.

It was just reward for Dowsons tireless running all night that he collected the second for Bramham just after the break and he could easily have added to his tally as the second half progressed.

HIck had what appeared to be a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside on 80 minutes, before Bramham saw out time for a comfortable win.

There were  many pleasing aspects of Bramhams play, a good all round performance, in which Alker Hick and Dodsworth were as usual competetive in midfield and dictated the play for much of the evening.
