Kirk Deighton 2 Bramham 2

by Unknown - 22:29 on 08 April 2008

Following their fine result at Eccleshill, Bramham were once again on the road, but this time it was the short trip up the A1 for the local derby with high flying Kirk Deighton.

The game followed the pattern of many of the local derbys between the two clubs over the years, generally played in a good spirit but always competetive.

Bramham opened the scoring on 25 minutes when a ball to the near post was headed on and looped over the keeper. Deighton replied 10 minutes on with a fine strike from 30 yards with Tasker stranded off his line and the sides turned around all square.

The second half followed the pattern of the first with Deighton have the edge on possession but Bramham looking dangerous on the break a style that has become their hallmark  and served them well in recent weeks.

Carrier was brought down on the edge of the area and Jacklyn struck a superb dead ball kick beyond the home keeper to regain the lead for the visitors. If Bramham are a resilient outfit so too are Deighton and they levelled when a looping cross shot nestled in the top corner of the visitors net.

A draw was  a fair result, confirmed Deightons credentials as  league runners up and the growing strength of  a Bramham side which bears no comparison to the team who were nailed to the bottom of this league at the onset of winter
