Eccleshill Utd 1 Bramham 1 ( Bramham win 11-10 on pens)

Bramham arrived at Eccleshill underdogs for this Senior Cup tie following their 6-3 maulling on this ground last August .

They are however a much improved outfit since last summer and have matured into a solid Premier League  side and were not going to be blown away by either the strong wind blowing of the Peninnes or the reputation of their hosts.

They contained well and played much of the match on the break and whilst Eccleshill had the lions share of possession throughout, they found the well drilled Bramham team a tough nut to crack. Bramham looked dangerous on the break and took the lead on the half hour mark, with Milner prodding home from close range.

Eccleshill got back on level terms just before the interval when Bramham failed to deal with a ball to the far post which was headed home from close range.

The second half followed the pattern of the first with clear openings few and far between. Tasker was once again commanding in goal as he barked instructions at the yellow shirts in front of him. Simon Wright broke through on 80 minutes and appeared to have been brought down as he homed in on goal, but referee Sneddon waived play on and the sides were level on 90 minutes. Extra time was a replica of what had gone before and there was nothing to split the teams and it was then perhaps inevitable that the game would be decided on a penalty shoot out, and what a dramatic affair this was!!

After the obligatory 5 penalties the sides were locked at 5-5, so onto sudden death, but the accuracy of the kicks continued as the pressure mounted but cool heads on both sides took the shoot out to 10 -10, and with the goalkeepers left, Tasker hit a thunderous strike high into the roof of the net, but the luckless home keeper saw his kick hit the upright and roll along the goaline  and OUT!

Sweet revenge for the early season defeat!!
