Allington League
We propose to run a petanque league competition from May to September. Each team will comprise of 4 players, with 3 boules each, grouped into 2 pairs and a match will consist of 4 games.
For example:
Team A with players A1,A2,A3,A4 vs team B with B1,B2,B3,B4
Piste 1 game A1 & A2 will play B1 & B2
Piste 2 game A3 & A4 will play B3 & B4
Followed by
Piste 1 game A1 & A2 will play B3 & B4
Piste 2 game A3 & A4 will play B1 & B2
A point will be awarded for each game won, therefore if team A beat team B by 3 games to 1, the league table would appear as:
Team Name |
Played |
Points |
A |
1 |
3 |
B |
1 |
1 |
The winners will be the team with the most points. If, at the end of the season there are two or more teams with the same number of points, then the teams will be seperated by which team has the most wins, then the team with the most draws. If there is still a tie then the individual game scores are added up , points conceded are deducted from the points scored and the team with the highest difference are deemed to be better.
This competition will not replace the mêlées, but would be an additional event to allow for a slightly more competitive element to the game.
You can either enter as a whole team (team name plus 4 player names) or simply register your interest and we will accommodate your request. Everybody is welcome, even if you haven’t played with us before.
