We are very lucky to be quite near to Aled Owen's training facility in North Wales. Aled who was twice World Sheepdog Trials Champion is happy to work with Beardie handlers. Although it could be quite intimidating working with someone who has achieved so much Aled takes time to put the Novice handler at ease.

Hugh has visited him once or twice with Nell but this was the first time he had taken Bess. Nell excelled herself in being calm & working well moving the sheep steadily. Bess was calm but Hugh noticed that she has a preference for her Away side - this needs working on itn the future. I remember that Nell in her early days, although working both ways  became pressured & uncomfortable if asked to work on her on her non prefereed side Several sessions of close work in the barn relaxed her & helped her overcome her  unease.
