BOB
"RAEFELL'S FIRECRACKER "
Ch Dearbolt Hooray-Henry at Catsun x Ch Charncroft Copper Rose
12 th August 1994 - 17th October 2009
Breeder Jacqui Emerson
BOB was from Jacqui s first & only Beardie litter . He was bred for showing which he took part in for a few years with fair success. He accompanied his mum ROSIE to a Herding Instinct assessment when he was 15 months, he showed promise even at that tender age.
After a short while it became obvious that he could be a talented herder so he continued with his lessons until Jackie's circumstances changed & unfortunately his lessons had to end. Hugh continued BOB's training for a while in Wales with Ceri Jones but without regular access to sheep - that bane of hobby herders - his progress slowed.
BOB was that great combination, a keen, fast worker & a willing, co-operative partner .
Hugh is now working with BOB's daughter NELL ( see her page)

Head study of Bob taken when he was 7 yrs
Im behind ewe!
Working steadily & at a good distance from the sheep
Which way Boss??
Learning the 'away' command & moving to balance the handler
Im watching ewe!
Bob holding the sheep, one of the hardest tasks for a trainee sheepdog. He is showing 'eye' which is unusual in a Beardie
Oooh the temptation!
One of the most important elements in working with sheep is a disciplined 'stop command' Here Bob is keeping his position even though the sheep are moving away from him -
Oh no you dont!
Another pic of Bob holding the sheep until his handler asks him to release them - a very useful exercise.
Posed while passing!!
