OPEN WATER SWIM

Thursday 27th May 2010 - The second outing at Bosworth, did 2 and a 1/2 curcuits of the lake totalling around 1.25 miles non-stop! took around 40 mins but not stopping was what it was about. Did half breststroke and half front crawl. Looking at doing this another 2 times before the big day.

Thursday 13th May 2010 - I had never done open water swimming before the 13th May 2010! I went to Bosworth Water Park where they hole Open Water Swimming every Thursday 18:30 to 20:00 and every Saturday 07:30 to 9:00 – which is mainly used by triathletes. The lake they use is approx 0.5 miles around or 0.25 miles if you go between the 2 islands. I had borrowed a wetsuit from my friend Nick, I wore my tri suit underneath as this would mock a actual triathlon. The first time you get in the coldness of the water does take your breath away however after 30 seconds you become used to the water and everything is okay. On the night around 80 swimmers came to the lake to swim and some were even brave enough not to wear a wetsuit!!! The swimming is ran by Tri1485 club, it cost £3 to get into the Park and then £2.50 to swim – so for £5.50 you get to experience the joys of Open water swimming.
