Tully Goes Home and Well Done Blake!

As the time of his collection drew near, Tully was kept pretty busy!

On Friday evening he received a thorough "makeover" ready for his trip to Beverley Limited show on Saturday.  Accompanied by Beattie, Diva and grandma Meg, he was first into the ring.  A little unsettled, he was placed fourth in the AV Minor Puppy Dog class by the judge Mr Anthony Allen.

Beattie was in next, and to our pleasure she won the Minor Puppy Bitch class.  Meg followed soon after, and pulled out all the stops to take Best Veteran - a cash prize AND a bottle of wine, well done Meg!  One class each, and Diva was placed second in the AV Pastoral Open class.  We were home in good time for the three pups to have a last good playtime before dinner and bed.

Beattie circling the round pen at full speed!

This morning we were back at The Glebe, this time in hazy sunshine, to give the pups and Diva another session with the sheep, and it was clear that Beattie and Tully are very taken with this new exciting pastime, though Madge continues to be less than impressed.......

...........She just can't see anything worth getting excited about!

The icing on the cake for Tully was seeing his "mum" Lyn come unexpectedly around the corner. They had an ecstatic reunion before adjourning to the paddock so Tully could show Lyn all he has learned so far.

Tully delighted to see Lyn again and keen to show her his new hobby!

We were having such fun we almost forgot that today was the day of the Midshires Bearded Collie Club Open Show, judged by Shelagh Walker, so how nice it was to have the news that young Blake (T Royal Ascot), litter brother to our Beattie, had won the Minor Puppy Dog class, and gained a good second in Puppy Dog - well done all, and may the success continue.  Honey and Ruby are very proud of their offspring!

One more bit of news - Jackie tells us that "Barking Mad", her new book about herding with Beardies, is now at the printers', and there is every chance it will be ready for Crufts.  If anyone would like copies of either "Barking Mad" or the earlier publication "There Is Another Way"  bringing to the show, please let Liz know in good time.  This is the second print of "Another Way" as the first has already sold out, seemingly especially well-received in the USA, where herding with Beardies is a very popular hobby.

Jackie writes well and both books are highly recommended!
