Through our research we have found that there are no apps for the transition from leaving school to further education, college or employment. This is quite scary for us as we would like to know more. We would like to see if we can make our own app but we would need to get funding for this.
Some of the topics we would put on the app to help quide young people are: -
Education and Employment and how to access this. Working can help us to gain skills, give us experience, money to live, increase our confidence and self esteem and help us to have a purpose for our days.
Budgeting - How to manage our money, food costs, financial advice, debt and how to manage it, saving and planning for our future, advice on energy prices.
Housing - how to manage a tenancy, can we be supported in a tenancy, how do we furnish our own homes, support with people with disabilities, how to look after your home, living with other young people, homeless, rent, council tax etc.
Independant Living - Cooking, paying bills, cleaning, buying goods, hygiene.
Travel - Costs, how do we get from our house to college or work, trains and buses information.
Relationships - meeting new people, internet safety, sexual health, protecting yourself, advice on relationships and what if they go wrong i.e speak to parents, professionals, police.
Health - drugs and alcohol, general health and welfare, stress, mental health.
