Alison's Memoir, at 90
Here it is at last - typed up from her manuscript. Huge gaps - for instance,
-
Her youngest son, Adrian, was born in London when Arthur was curate at St. John's, Smith Square.
-
Alison taught needlework and design at Duncan House School, The Promenade, Clifton, (1864 – 1967).
-
Her uncle Corry's involvement in that appointment is rather unclear.
-
Arthur was courting her at that time and visited her, serenading her with his violin.
-
It was here in Bristol that Alison met Ethne who was also working at the school.
-
Much later Alison invited Ethne down to East QuantoxHead to keep Arthur company while she was off with Richard Marriott.
-
And of course while Alison was in America during the War, Ethne cemented her position.
Alison’s memoir poses many questions, but does provide a little more family history.
We have made some very slight changes to improve clarity and readability - the odd comma, etc. - and have added a little here and there in [square brackets], and also added footnotes.
