Cup Matches 2013

The Locomotives

The Locomotives played Wheatsheaf Harriers on April 11th. It was a very close match with both teams playing well, the teams drew 2-2 but the Locomotives won on countback by 3 points. They won 13-5 & 13-9 and lost 7-13 & 10-13, some good games on a cold and damp night. So well played the Locomotives.

The Buffers

The Buffers played Panteg the Division One leaders and after losing in our league match on the Monday were not looking forward to it expecting the worst, but with dogged resistance and some good play the Buffers won 3-1. It was a cold night and the games seemed to go on forever and as the rain started to come in the Buffers increased the pressure on Panteg and finished the ends for a totally unexpected victory.

The Shunters

The Shunters played against the ROF A, (who are second in division one) on another cold and wet night, which seems to be the theme on the Cup Matches, the games were all very close and after a very exciting match on the very last game, it came down to the wire, the pressure was on both teams, but with some superb pointing, the Shunters won by one point.

The Trackers

The Trackers played their game against Halfway Allstars on Thursday and won by a few points, the first games added excitement to the 1st round cup challenge, by losing one and winning won so it was up to the second half. Sam and Sylvia did not disappoint with a good win, however Jill and Jackie needed to win by about 4 or 5 points to secure the lead, the game was very exciting and it was point for point most ends, but as the gnats started to bite so did Jill and Jackie to secure the win! So well done the trackers - all four teams from the Rising Sun through.
