Eastern Scotland

From Wick to Berwick, just over the Scottish Border there are probably a hundred places you could surf on the east coast. Over the years I'll no doubt make my way to some of these and update this site as I go.

Listed below are some of the more popular areas I surf and of course keeping some of those precious quiet spots to myself and the friends I surf with.

North Berwick, East Beach

Belhaven Bay

Probably the more popular beach for beginners and intermediate surfers in this area, although on a perfect easterly it can produce some great swells for those more experienced surfers. It's even been known to barrel on the odd occasion. The stretch of beach is all sand with various banks and a number of peaks along its stretch.  Left to right rips in the shallower water. There is the odd rip that will take you out to seea if you're not careful, usually on the bigger days. In general it's one of the safer spots.   In 2008 there was no reported incidents by the RNLI. In 2009 one reported incident, however this was a windsurfer

Pease Bay

Pease Bay is a small stretch of beach of about 500yds and can be very busy on a good day. At Pease Bay you will will find the more experienced surfer on the right (small boulder reef) as you look out to sea. The remainder of the beach is sand. On occasions you will also find the more experinced surfer on the left  depending on the conditions and state of the tide. Leaving the middle stretch for beginners and intermediates.  Don't be fooled by the look of this beach as it can produce some strong rips out to sea. There is also a stream sunning into the middle of the beach which cansometimes take you out to sea. This year there has been 1 reported incidents involving 2 surfers by the RNLI.

Coldingham Bay
