Surfing in Scotland.....?

If you were to ask someone "Where would be the most likely country to find people surfing"?  You would probably get the response of the Gold Coast, Australia, Raglan, New Zealand, J-Bay, South Africa or Santa Cruz, California and possibly the South Coast of England . Very unlikely you would here the them say "Scotland".

Even though people have been surfing in the UK for up to 100 years it wasn't until the sixties that  this exhilarating sport hit Scottish waters.  From research and surfers I've met along the way, who have provided me with their stories. I've  compiled a short history to Scottish surfing.

Recent times have seen a massive boom to surfing in Scotland.   With world class waves on our north coast, the O'Neill Highland Open has become one of the, top class events from the Coldwater Classic Series. A Prime 6-Star World Qualifying Series event.

The 2009 O'Neill Highland Open attracts professional surfers from all over the world and this, Adam Melling from Australian won the title.

This website is my research into the history of Scottish surfing and a celebration of this fantastic, hugely addictive, exhilirating sport.

I will share my very own experience of surfing in Scotland. As well as stories, places, videos and pictures from others.
